Scariest quote as applies to "How does this affect me?" : "They would be able to seize any device - laptop, iPod, DVD recorder, mobile phone, etc - and confiscate it or destroy anything on it, merely on suspicion. On the spot, no lawyers, no right of appeal, no nothing."

Supposedly "uncontacted" tribe found and photographed near Brazil/Peru border.

Here's a Daily Mail story (one of hundreds reporting on this), and here's a video.

Although the MSM hasn't picked it up at all yet, there's some growing buzz that these photos were faked.

Lleanna's translation:
Rough translation of the newspaper article:

The indiginous officials located on the border with Brazil in the district of Yurua reached Pucalipa (the newspaper) to deny that in his district there exists a population uncontacted by civilization.

on the contrary Jorge Sandoval Orbe of the ethnicity Chitonahua, called Murunahua claim the support offered by the WWF and ensures that they made them pose nude behind that institution (building) in the town of Breuer, they got paid for only one day and had since forgotten.

We pose naked for NGO as we moved like wild animals and we were exposed throughout the world as a collection of people untouched by civilization.

They called it "voluntary isolation", a name given to argue its validity before the international community, who invest large sums of money that never come to us, despite living in extreme poverty, which Sandoval claims DNI (welfare??) for more than 4 years.

-------------------

Basically, it sounds like someone paid these guys a very little money to pose naked for pictures and act like wild men, in order to get money to study and/or protect them?

It's hard to get more than that out of this newspaper article, which is a pulp fluff piece at best. Sorry for the lame-o translation, but I'm tired. It just didn't seem like anyone else was interested in translating it, since I couldn't find a translation anywhere on the web for it.

OMG. This pisses me off. It's a video so I don't think we can play it on the show, but watch this when you have time.

Basic idea is this: 17 teenagers in some high school made a pact to get pregnant and raise their children together. Fox News interviews a psychiatrist that blames it on the evil intarwebs and technology.

A serious case of 'thus proving my point'

Maybe we should make a segment dedicated to logical fallacies we find in the news, and call it "Thus Proving My Point"

Until then, Fox News:
